New Client: Giant

The Giant logo.

Giant was established in 1972 in Dajia, Taichung County (now part of Taichung City), by King Liu and several friends.

By 2014, Giant had sales in over 50 countries in over 12,000 retail stores. In 2007, its global sales surpassed 5 million bicycles and US$820 million in global revenue, and by 2012 it had reached 6.3 million bicycles and revenue of US$1.8 billion.

Swipe and Tap are working closely with Giant to update their PF (Power Fit) App, used to measure up customers by store staff to match them with the perfect Giant Bicycle.

Swipe and Tap have been drafted to help update their current app, which no longer works with a view for updating the screens to use AutoLayout and work on any iPad device screen size, along with updating the project settings and assisting with creating an enterprise version of the app for distribution across the UK.

The measuring process can be a lot more complex than just considering a person’s height - not to mention all the elements of geometry throughout the bike itself.

The app will be used in-house by Giant store staff to ensure that each customer gets exactly the right spec when choosing their new ride.

We’re very happy to be working with Giant. We have quite a few keen cyclists (of all abilities) within Swipe and Tap. So we’ll all be giving our valuable insight and contributing towards developing this new product.

Not only do we work on brand-new projects at Swipe and Tap, but we can also assist in managing existing apps, auditing code and maintenance fixes.
