COMPLEX, TIME-CONSUMING PROCESS FOR RECRUITING CONTRACTORS

Co-founders of Fluxible, Bill Blair and Cal Blair, came from a recruitment background with years of experience of recruiting contractors to companies. Their experience taught them that there was a huge inefficiency in the process of recruiting contractors, resulting in frustrations for both contractors and companies.

The traditional process often involves a long recruitment supply chains including a hiring manager, internal HR, external recruitment consultant, and contractors/candidates. With numerous lines of communication and steps in the process, all parties can become frustrated with the time that this complex recruitment method can take.

Bill and Cal surveyed over 2,000 contractors and companies and identified a need to streamline the process. Both parties wanted to be able to connect with each other more directly but the traditional recruitment process made this difficult and companies didn’t often have the resources to find contractors themselves. A faster, cheaper, and more efficient way of connecting the two was needed.

The Solution

AN APP TO CONNECT COMPANIES WITH CONTRACTORS DIRECTLY

An app and online platform, with no recruitment agencies involved, seemed to be the way forward. Bill and Cal drew up a list of app developers from across the region, plus a few in London, and met with them to discuss their ideas.

They were looking for a team that really saw the potential in the app. They needed a developer who would be genuinely interested in it, rather than treating it as just another job.

Bill explains: "Aaron was genuinely excited about the app and really saw its potential. This meant that he didn't simply implement our ideas, but made suggestions of his own to improve and enhance it. We really wanted a team that would buy into the app and add their own ideas. And that's exactly what they did."

CREATING THE APP AND ONLINE PLATFORM FOR CONTRACTORS

The app's beta version, Fluxible, was launched in March 2017. Its user base is growing steadily. The app provides contractors with industry news and a platform to expand their network and discuss issues with other contractors.

Swipe & Tap have also created a Jobs section that launched later in 2017, and this will allow contractors to see the latest opportunities and connect directly with the companies.

For companies, Fluxible means that they can reduce their overall contractor spend by 25 percent, cut 50-75 percent of admin time spent on recruiting contractors, and increase the quality of the candidate pool by up to 95 percent.
